I was out this evening dialing in my .308 Stevens that Chris pimped out for me. He put a brake on it which really took the kick out but did increase the audible signature of the weapon significantly - not a problem for me. With corn in our fields I was forced to set up my range down the length of our driveway from the entrance near the secondary road down to the edge of our swamp. I marked off 100 yrds and began to shoot at my targets. After round 10 or 12 I notice a county deputy pull up. I walked out to the road and talked to him not realizing it was a guy that I actually worked with in the past. He verified the address and said that he had a call and it wasn't anything illegal, but someone had reported a "guy walking across the yard with a gun in his hand". He advised that they called so they had to check it out even though it wasn't illegal even if I had been walking down the road with a weapon. We laughed it off and he told me to go ahead and get back to shooting. I don't know who made the report but they surely wont make it through the next few months without incident as the guys in the hunt club up the road from me do enough shooting to rival some of the Bloods and Crips gang wars. I still think it was the audible signature that did the trick ....

Wow, you sure can tell the difference between living in Eastern VA verses Southern CA, if I was shooting in my yard I would have woken up in a different house in the morning, one with bars and a roommate named Bubba

Well I guess that could be part of it, I'm in town on a total of a 9,000 Sq ft lot, so no shooting in my yard
